Dementia and Alzheimer’s Care:

The Kirk Alzheimer’s Activity Center is our adult day care program of the Willows Health Center.  At the Kirk Center, we provide a reassuring, flexible and safe haven for persons with the diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease.  The purposeful, activity program is designed to meet the individual’s physical, emotional, leisure and spiritual needs in a safe, caring environment.  Highly trained and dedicated professionals provide specialized care and attention to the client’s personal needs.  Quietly stimulating, the home-like environment encourages and generates a sense of well being.

Our outdoor courtyard provides a safe, secure area for residents to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.  Family and friends share in the day-to-day experiences of their loved ones.  Professionals and families join as partners in care giving. The primary goal is to promote an atmosphere of purposeful, creative expression without the anxiety associated with failure. A Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse is available at all times.

Services Include:

  • A personalized care plan
  • Social activities such as crafts, music, movies, community projects, pet therapy, and intergenerational programs
  • Physical, occupational, and speech therapy
  • Family-support group
  • Fellowship, support, and assistance with daily activities such as bathing, eating, dressing, and grooming
  • Nutritious meals specific to Alzheimer’s dietary needs
  • Religious services and full-time Chaplain

Adult Day Care Program for Community Members

Are you caring for a loved one with the diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease in your home?

We can provide adult day care for your loved one during the day while you attend to your daily schedule.  After a day of structured and stimulating activities, your loved one can return home at night, enabling them to live at home for a longer period of time and helping them maintain their level of independence.  This also provides you, the caregiver, with temporary relief from the stressful physical and emotional daily tasks and demands of caregiving.  Hours for our program are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and include a hot therapeutic lunch each day.

If you are facing increasing family demands of Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia, please call Kathy Ryks at 815-316-1516 with your questions or more information.
